Looking back on the history of Kobe Shipping, the predecessor of Kobe Shipping was Tanabe Koun Kaisha, founded by Kikuo Tanabe in February 1963, and Kobe Shipping was established in 1973 as Kobe Shipping Ezenshi Co.
In 1981, the company changed its name to the current Kobe Shipping Co.
Kobe Shipping has expanded its business by owning vessels and offering time charters to NYK and its affiliated companies.
In 2006, the manning division was spun off to form Hinode Kosan Corporation, and in 2008, the ship management division was spun off to form Kobe Ship Management Co.
Kobe Shipping has since expanded its fleet to include capesize and container vessels, but in 2021, the company sold its shipbuilding business to a Singaporean corporation and withdrew from the shipowning business.
We are now planning to expand our business with a focus on real estate business, including ownership and management of rental properties, while continuing to take charge of the administration department of the group companies.
All of us consider our 50th anniversary as a new start toward our 60th and 100th anniversaries.
The world environment surrounding us is changing at a dizzying pace, but we will make further efforts to contribute to the development of the shipping industry, including ship management and manning, and to the development of the local economy, mainly in Kobe, as the Kobe Shipping Group.
